No, really. It’s frosty at night.
We’re all still out and I’m not looking forward to going in overnight. I hate it. I’m much rather out in the field–even if it’s freeze-my-butt-off-minus celsius.
Besides, the human bought me a new duvet. Well, it’s not really a duvet. It’s a rug with 50g fill, so nothing overwhelmingly warm, but it means I don’t get really cold, and I don’t have to shiver to keep warm. She says it’s not for me (I couldn’t care less and would be quite happy without a rug), it’s for her, and to make sure I don’t lose too much weight.
It’s snuggly though, so I don’t mind. It’s by the same people who made my fleece (which I love) and fits rather well. She’s working on getting it right around the chest, because it’s a little bit narrow there if the velcro is closed.
Anyway, while it’s nice and warm–it’s also RED.
I don’t like red. She knew I don’t like red, and got me a red rug anyway.
Anyway, I figured since it’s brand new, and I’m wearing it, I’ll do a review.
It’s made by Swish Equestrian (www.swish-equestrian.co.uk), and it’s the Lightweight 50g Turnout Rug, 1200 Denier.
Here is what the blurb says:
The LT50 has 50g filling, 1200 denier outer. This rug has reflective strips on the front, rear and tail flap. It has a super soft nylon lining, double chest closures, shoulder gussets, low cross surcingles and adjustable/removable leg straps. Fully waterproof and breathable.
It comes in navy/black, and red. In sizes 5’3-7’6
Right now it’s on sale at £45.99 and shipping is £6.99
So here we go.
The rug is very well made, the lining is soft and light, just like their info says. The chest closures on the red rug are white (black on the blue one) as are the surcingles. The front flap also has a velcro fastening, but for me it could be a tiny bit wider. It’s a little narrow in the chest for me to fully close, but it’s no biggie. The leg straps, which I don’t use, are elasticated and look like they would be comfortable and non restrictive. Mine is a 5’6 rug and it fits me well (I’m 14.1h). The rear flap is wide and protects my bum from the rain, there’s a fillet string also.
I can walk easily in it, the gusset makes sure of it. The neck has a fake sheepskin top so it won’t rub my neck. The neck area has white edging.
The material is sturdy, but conforms well and it withstood a torrential downpour the other night.
I’m not sweaty under it, but I’m not cold either.
As you can see, there are reflective strips on it too, so now I glow in the dark.
So there you are. I like my new rug, despite the color (my human is to blame for that one).
I should probably mention that I’m reviewing the rug she bought, not anything given to me by the company.
Not affiliated — but if they want to send me another 5’6 luxury show fleece I won’t say no! (Love that thing…)
