My apologies for being so slack.
I’m locked in half the day, well, night, and it’s tricky to post with hooves.
A few things have gone on since I last updated my diary.
First of all, a couple of weeks after my last post, the human made me take part in what she called a competition. Now, I don’t mind competitions. My old farm used to have them.
But this wasn’t anything like those competitions!
This one was full of scary stuff!
First she made me stand still after she got on. Then she wanted me to walk up to some strange string thing. I was sure she meant to tie me up, so I didn’t go anywhere near it. Then she wanted me to walk backwards through some poles on the floor. Why? I just stepped over them. Job done.
But when I turned around there was a HUGE yellow snake on the ground, and she wanted me to step in it! HELL no.
Gosh, you wouldn’t believe the stuff she wanted me to go near. Round, flapping, colored things. A rustly blue monster on the floor. I could cope with the barrels, but she was carrying something and the barrel moved and I hopped — and she lost the thing. Then she got off and sat on a HUGE round thing and hopped on it, wanting me to follow!
I only did a couple of steps, but hey… I tried.
Afterward she let me watch from outside and I felt like a dope when I saw all the other horses go through there without much fuss. When she took me back inside, I did all but the rustly blue thing and she was okay with it.
The human is pretty good at bringing me and my friend in just before dark, but seriously… she’s been late lately. I mean, we’re ready, waiting… And no sign of her. It gets darker and darker until you can’t see a single blade of grass (if there were any) and she’s still not coming to get us.
What’s up with that?
On top of coming in late to have dinner, we’ve had a few occasions where I’ve come in and found my bed was mucky, there was no food, no fresh water, not even fresh straw!
I keep trying to tell her we should blow this joint, because housekeeping and room service absolutely suck sometimes.
Seriously, she makes me wait outside while she rummages around in there doing God knows what. I keep knocking the door to make her hurry up. I have to admit it’s quite good fun to knock that wheely contraption over. The human gets all rattled and pays attention to me, so I must be doing something right.
My name appears to have changed to “Stop it”. Whatever that means.
Still, dinner is yummy and when I finished the salt lick, she brought me a nice big new one. I’m half way through already. Much tastier than the sweet stuff.
The hay isn’t as tasty lately. Maybe I shouldn’t have decorated so much with the last batch, because it was a lot tastier than this batch.
We even had some snow!
And my human took me for a nice walk with her other human. It was really nice to go out. She told me she’s working very long hours and can’t take me out much until it gets lighter, but you know, she makes sure I get to stay in the field as much as possible.
She even lets me roll without the rug on! It’s great, because I’m preparing for summer, and all that loose fur really itches. I make sure that I’m taking proper care of my fur.
I was out “naked” for nearly a week, but then it got really cold and she covered me up again. I admit it was more comfortable at night and I didn’t have to keep wandering my box to keep warm. Instead I concentrated on eating anything that took my fancy.
The food mix. The hay. The straw. The salt lick. The…buckets.
Yeah, I got a little carried away. So what?
Aside from that, for some reason she had a lot of pictures taken one morning. Apparently it’s because someone wants to use my likeness for some illustrations. Then she says there’s stuff in there about me.
And not nice stuff!
She’s been telling someone about the stuff I do while we’re out. Tattling on me!
So I got pissed off and made my feelings known about her little “kiss and tell” extravaganza.
Of course, then she says I’m going to be famous, and I should stand nicely for my picture.
Well, I behaved for a little bit, but it was a semi-decent day, and all we did was stand around, and I wanted to go out. What’s the point of getting all dressed and not going anywhere?
We did go in the end, but honestly…what is it with those humans and pictures?
Still… I kinda like this one:
So that’s it from me for today.
I’ll report in a little more frequently again, soon.
